To restate what was said above once more: Fender is a business. John Mayer is a good musician. Fender figures they'll make a profit from it, so bada bing, it happens.

I don't really think "deserving" should be brought up in this.

Well Doc I dont follow the Mike Eldred page so I did not see it if I did I would not of put it up. You never got back to me if you liked the deal I had for you. I see it is still up so I guess you passed, but I dont think you could do better than that Doc. Slapchop I am going to cut the diplomatic way of responding to you. No matter what the subject you have to come out in your arrogant way If someone was talking about Mother Theresa you would still have your obnoxious overtone. I thought I would show a little class and congratulate you on your 1000 post knowing you lacked the class to return it. So we will just cut to the quick here (You start with the phrase it amuses you)in which you stop an inch short of talking about yourself in the third person so, you better come off that horse you are on cause you are really going to fall on your face one day.Yes we know it is a buisness and you feel we 'all want Capitalism and are terrified of Socilaism' and you know that because someone might of told you that in a buisness class or the tooth fairy visited and told you .How the hell do you know what we want or are afraid of. So if the Jonas Brothers decided to play a strat they should have an artist model, Believe me they would outsell everyone. It is called integrity which in this case Fender is showing a lack of and something you should be an expert on. And if Leo Fenders sole purpose was to make money he was handed a whopping 13.5 million dollars back in 1964 which could of bought him a small country and he would of never had to touch a piece of wood again. But he came back with two other companies and I dont think it was for the money. I believe the guy LOVED WHAT HE DID. Not everything is money so we can toss that one out the window would you agree. And as far as making this forum run,this forum runs on its own by the guys who love to talk gear and play guitar. And you have the balls to tell us to grow up, you need to grow up and come out of that cocoon of negativity you are in and I know you are in because you would not last to long on the streets with that attitude of yours that I can assure you. One thing about me I dont have a phony bone in my body so you can toss my trying to be civil and stomach your snide remarks . I find John Mayer an exceptional musician as far as a song writer, but I do not find him an exceptional guitar player.

Hhheh...I agree...Hell, Fender should also make a Hannah Montana Sig Strat while they are at it. Its all about making $$$$$

I think a lot more young players are into Mayer than you think and have disposable income. There is member here ( Chanman) who is under 18 and has a guitar collection that would put most seasoned players to shame. While all of you are bashing Mayer as a player, have any you stopped to play one of his Sig Strats? They are some of the nicest playing and sweetest sounding production strats out there. If Fender made sig guitars based on who all internet forum members unanimously thought were deserving no sig guitars would be made. Billy Corgan and Tom delonge have had sigs so why not Mayer? He's more of a player than they are. I think most of you guys would view him a lot differently if you ever went to one of his concerts or listened to a bootleg. Of course if you listened to "Your body is a Wonderland" or "Waiting on the world to change" you would probably hate the guy, or think he is a subpar player. Give his music a chance and I'm pretty sure you might find something that you like.
