Chet and I live in Northern California in the SF Bay Area. The huge fires are in Southern California, near Los Angeles, so we are safe.

However........from time to time, I'm near forest fires at my home in the Sierra Mountains (California), near the Nevada border. On the day of 9-11, my neighborhood in the Sierra Mountains (it's national forest) was supposed to be consumed by a forest fire, but on that day, the winds shifted, and the fire went around my neighborhood. But.....thanks for asking.

I"m in SoCal and the worst seems to be over now. I'm near Pasadena CA which is in the foothills. If the winds changed and the dry heat didn't let up we coulda been in trouble. The Firefighters are heroes. They have kept the fires from spreading southeast which saved many many homes.

Things could have easily been much worse. With a fire this large the loss of life and property has been amazingly small. Thanks to the Firefighters.
