Bought a new strat a few weeks ago - discovered fret buzz - went back to the dealer who went back to Fender (this is in the UK) and 4 weeks later I still have no guitar, still dont when the issue will be resolved ... bad customer service.

Anyone else exprience similar bad service?

Was the dealer doing a "set-up" on the guitar? If so then its an issue with the dealer (for taking so long) and not really a Fender customer service issue.

When I bought my Tele new it needed a set-up and the shop I bought it from said it would take them 3-4 weeks. I didn't want to wait that long so I did it myself but if the shop's technicians are busy then I guess it could take a while.

And you somehow imagine that this is Fender's problem?

I've had setups done by a guitar tech I use. At times he can be very busy (he's good), and that once caused me a three week wait (The guitar was in his shop the whole time). Not to do the actual job, but to wait my turn. Seems that is not unusual.

I've only had good experience with Fender Service (for warranty repairs)

My tech & Fender dealer does the setups (which is where fret buzz would be taken care of) and usually takes 1-2 weeks depending on time of year which seems to affect his workload.

You probably would have had better lucky taking your guitar to a authroized Fender Service center instead of going to the dealer. I usually purchase from Guitar Center and when I need service, I go to a Fender Autthorized Service Center. Turn around is usually about a week. My recent service was for Pro Jr. The output tube caps got fried and within a week. I got the amp back.

Wow those wait times are just ridicules. First off Fender does a setup when it leaves the factory and guitars are flown all over the states and to other countries that by the time you get it it is going to need a setup. But the wait times some of these places have is just bullsh!t. I can walk into my friend Mikes place and even if there are guys ahead of me(OK he is a personal friend ) he could do three setups for me in a little over an hour and that is with bullsh!ting while he is working. 3 to 4 weeks is just absurd.

I was six weeks not for a repair, but a Fender credit on a GDec. The dealer should have checked the setup. The gut I deal with sends you a card after a month to bring a new guitar in for a checkup.
