hehe, that's easier said than done with some people. The problem is, with some people, you can't tell them anything without them getting pissed off because they think that your a "know-it-all" for trying to explain something to them. But these people are the real "know-it-alls" and they hardly ever can make friends with anyone, mush less listen to somebody.

However, alittle bit of ego never hurt nobody. It's human nature. If you go around thinking everybody is better than you, you'll never get good enough. In fact, that's why most people give up on instruments, they have no kind of motivation to push them.

I think everybody was missing the point the poster was trying to make. But he is right, most of the time a guitar is bought for nothing more than an ornament, something to show off to everybody, something to brag about and maybe impress some girls (but unfortunately that doesn't work these days).

Fender needs these type of people though, their the ones that buy guitars and stick them in their closets for the rest of their life, only to be dragged out like 50 years later so Fender employees can gawk at them and take a few measurements just to make sure that's how it was done in the old days. Make about a hundred of'em and charge out the $@! for'em.

What's the deal with you caring about anybody's else's motives?

Do you think these unskilled players diminish you in some way? They don't.

Do you think worrying about them elevates you in some way? It doesn't: there are plenty of guitar players who would look down their nose at your skills, too.

Just make good music, and try not to worry about what anybody else is doing.
i wasn't really pissed till the next day when he a girl asked me if i play and if im any good, he then chimed in and said," he's just O.K. at best"

just remember whenever your looking down your long nose at someone else's skills:

You were at that same level once.

everybody starts somewhere and even if they don't excel, appreciate that love for the instrument that keeps them playing.

my 10th grade English had it right years ago when talking about how nice of a guy Eric Johnson is:

"He's the real deal. He could destroy someone on a guitar but his maturity as a player keeps him humble and appreciating what someone else can bring to the table."

What I like is when people find out I play guitar, they ask if I play or have played Guitar Hero...My answer is always,"No, whats the point of spending a lot of time on a video game about a guitar when you could actually use that time to play a real guitar. Why do I need to buy a videogame about something I can actually do in real life?"

hahhaha

I HATE GUITAR HERO

its soooo lame because absolutely NO actual guitar skills translates over to this plastic guitar with only five notes. The melodies on the game switch from bass to guitar. whenever my roommates start playing that I just play the real thing and I can get way louder than the TV.
