Any one up for "The Guitar Channel"? There is fishing, hunting, auto and all sorts of other single subject channels.I've herd of but not seen,"Tune:the Guitar Show".I'm not sure that there could be enough subject matter to fill each 12 hour viewing period. But how many times can you watch a person catch a fish or adjust their breaks? And would major guitar makers be willing to sponsor such a channel? What are your thoughts on this everyone :?:

Then you would have to put some sort of segment for tips and/or lessons, and By GOD Hal Leonard would go out of business!

I would be up for it. I could envision there being NAMM updates, guitar lessons, new product info, demos, and even updates regarding the gear that different bands are using. There could be comparisons between guitars, pickups, amps, pedals and more.

Hello CrazyHorse1959,

Back in '73 there was a 16 week series
"Baxters Guitar Workshop". I never saw the programs
but I did get a music book from the series and of late
found this youtube vid with Clarence White & Bob Baxter.

As a youngster this is one of the first songs I learned

Here's the link.

Cheers.

Comcast (TV Cable) does have guitar lessons and guitar videos for free (with the cost of cable TV) with their "on Demand" system. You can call the programs up anytime you want, and new programs are added from time to time.

I think it would be cool if there was a music channel devoted to the Musician. I think a channel dedicated to the Guitarist would not have enough content to keep it going. But if you had shows on guitar, bass, drums, mics, keyboards, equipment, and even lessions could fill an 18 hour day worth of programming.

Personally, 'cannot stand or stomach television in general.

If a guitar channel happens, it will likely be short-lived, in this opinion. Not "lowest-common-denominator" enough for long-term success, but who knows?

Maybe Hal Leonard would own the Guitar Channel...
Or maybe Mel Bay.

It would be more interesting than watching reruns on every other channel. Tips from the pros on how tos and what nots would be a great program. Then add the new product visual revues and then put on some quality guitar playing performances from each genre of music to fill the open schedule. I'd sign up for it in a heartbeat.

It's not a matter of such a concept not being "lowest common denominator" enough (A statement that implies that Guitar TV would somehow be more "highbrow" than everything else on television, which is bunk). It's a matter of the concept being "not a big enough audience" enough.

Look around your neighborhood. How many home owners engage in some kind of home improvement or maintenance (and might watch HGTV)? How many people there cook for themselves or a family (And might watch FOod Network)?

Now, how many play the guitar?

There ya go. No numbers means no channel.

They could come to the Fender Forums. Plenty of subject matter here.

I'd watch!
Lot better than the reality and game shows that fill the babble box now!

Yeah, but on TV, you can't spew made-up or misheard grapevine misinformation or repeat yourself endlessly, going over the same information every time you think someone new has tuned in. You also can't feature mentally ill, delusional posters that end up serviing as the forum's court jesters, inject pointless political rants, or have people call in to ask what's wrong with their Hot Rod Deluxe.

Subtract all that, and the forum's "subject matter" wouldn't even fill 12 shows.

Here's a big grin so nobody takes this too seriously. :D
