God, I'm in Nassau and it's impossible to talk with people with my age and preference, except for this one kid...

But welcome aboard! What I find strange with myself, is that I picked up the guitar a while back, strummed it for a few months, then put it back down and got bored with it, just like the piano and the clarinet. Then, I started listening to some Hendrix and Floyd and just wanted an electric. I've since kept at it for a year, and surprisingly got quite good. Getting compliments from pros and teachers. I don't know why and how. Maybe it is because we indeed torture ourselves over getting to sound how we want to, when in the end, no one cares.

I always enjoy learning something new and the feeling of accomplishment. Voodoo Child (Slight Return) was the first whole song I learned how to play.

Well, it was "Doughandler" but then they told me that if I kept it up I'd go blind.

Yeah, I'm a late '70 model, but not ready for "Historic" plates just yet.

Not exactly, though I have worked Penn in years past. Nowadays I spend most of my time east of 110. But if I do have the good fortune to run into you, you bet, first round is on me! 8)

Well I'm in Commack so the GC at Garrett Place might be a place to start.

That's exactly where I got my Tele! Then I had to stop in there yesterday (on the way to see It Might Get Loud) to get a signature on the Fender rebate form.

Big sale on the Fender, then a rebate, a cool guitar documentary to see... heck, I'm like a kid at Christmas.

That's exactly where I got my Tele!

When the previous manager left for Carle Place I took my business over there. I work very well with him and the guitar manager. I don't find the selection I seek at Garrett Place and I've also spoken elsewhere about not finding much of the high end Fender gear at Guitar Centers in general, except for the Platinum Rooms, which Garrett Place does not have.

Interesting.

Right now, getting proficient enough to have legitimate preferences like that seems soooo far away. Before, as just a music listener, I felt free to say whatever I felt like about an artist, a performance, a song, etc.

Suddenly, with a guitar in my hands, that I know has music in it, but that I can't yet bring out, I feel like I should sit quietly and listen to the adults talk.
