Can someone suggest a good pedal to suit a Champ600, I mainly play blues and occasional rock and sometimes go as heavy as ZZ Top but not metal or heavy rock. I am changing to 11s soon and I also want to fatten up my tone with some blues or something that will drive that lil' puppy even harder 8)

Can't ever go wrong with an old proco RAT. The new ones aren't bad, but it's worth it to find an old one with the good chip.

Ibanez Tubescreamer, Boss SD-1 Superoverdrive, Boss BD-2 Blues Driver, Fulltone Fulldrive, Fulltone OCD, Way Huge Pork Loin.

All are excellent dirt boxes. Try 'em all.

+1...Try them all with a similar amp and guitar.

The Bad Monkey is probably the most divisive piece of gear ever manufactured. Players who have used one either love it (and constantly sing its praises) or hate it (and tell everyone about their hatred of it). I haven't played one, but I'm very, very curious.

Next dirt box on my list is the OCD. Played one a few weeks ago and, in similar to that girl at the high school dance, I can't stop my brain from thinking about it constantly.

Before buying an overdrive unit, I would first look at getting a decent reverb pedal, like a Boss RV-5. It's amazing how much a little reverb can add to the tone of a practice amp.

As for overdrive, I think the Boss SD-1 is a great value. To me it sounds very close to a Tube Screamer for less than half the cost.

+1

You're absolutely right. The SD-1 is a fantastic pedal!
