After nearly a year of frustration, I quit my band last night. It always took an act of congress to get them together to practice, and often when we did practice.......I would travel 150 miles to make the practice (they only needed to travel a few blocks away), and one of them would be "no show". Anyway.....apparently after four months of no practice......they decided to commit to a gig today. Bad enough that they hadn't practiced (I don't like being embarrassed), but they never told me anything, and committed me to play without my knowledge. They would only hint at what was going on.......asking if I was going to be in the area during the play date, telling me they wanted to play (mentioning nothing about the gig).

Anyway.......I was informed last night they had committed me to play a gig today. I went ballistic, first of the fact that they never practice or are "no shows" for practice.....then to not even have the courtesy to let me know about the gig until the night before (they just assume I'll always do what they say). When I confronted them about it......they got all bent out of shape. Finally I told them I'd had it with them and quit. mmmmm........I wonder how the gig is going today. It was for an annual labor day event............

I'd wondered where you've been. I don't blame you as that's not way to treat a member nor do business! :? Hope another opportunity opens up for you!

Thanks.......I already have a local bass player, who enjoys playing the style of music that I like, and is interested in forming a band........so I'm not dead in the water yet.

Yeah......I've always done it for fun (not like there's a recording contract in my future). So......my thought........I don't want to do it, if it's no longer fun.

Sounds like you should have split a lot sooner. Good decision.

Sye I think you were more committed to playing and they just took it as a thing to do. I know it stings right now but you will eventually find a bunch of guys who take it as serious as you do. Hey some advice as you were probably tight with at least one member. If you get a call just stay calm and explain the situation and why you were pissed and wish them the best. And maybe if they decide to get serious then you might be willing to hear them out. Good Luck either way.

Well.....you can always get it together with Miami Mike  ......a really long commute......but he's got some other creative ideas in music making which might interest you.

Thanks. I'll be just fine. I feel better already, just knowing that I don't have to deal with them anymore. And......I'll be saving a lot of money on gas now. Actually, I was able to bring back my better amp, since I was leaving it at their location. I really missed playing it, a lot. Now I have that amp with me, and can use it all the time. I'll probably be looking up a bass player that want to get something started with me........and he's only a 15 minute drive away.

Well all the best with it mate. Atleast you'll get to play your fave amp more often.
