Hello Emgcarra,

Fender has had a few forays with quality archtops.
In the 80's Jimmy D'Aquisto designed and oversaw
a project of Japanese made wonders. From '99 to '06
Fender teamed up with Bob Bennadetto, these are pricey
but very nice players. Also back in 70's they produced a few
high quality archers that were handmade in California.
The makers name escapes me now, maybe later I'll recall.

So yeah, there are some quite nice Fender Archtops out there.

Cheers.

I have seen them before. I have tried to find you a cool link, but this was the closest I could find:

I believe that's the LTD, designed by Roger Rossmeisl. I don't think very many of them were made. I know Phil Upchurch played one.

Archtops come in two primary flavours; carved like a cello top / back or pressed-molded on a hot pressure mold. The ES-335 is a perfect example of a pressure-molded guitar.

Carving can be by hand or computer-controlled machine.

Likely the D'Aquisto / Fender archtops were pretty good stuff; James L. D'Aquisto was, in this opinion, the Antonio Stradivari of the 20th century. (and Bob Benedetto / Lloyd Loar / John D'Angelico tieing for being the Guarneri)

Thanks to you all....That was fast ! . I did not know of their existence, so when I saw that video, started to wonder about them. Now I know they are rare and expensive. Thanks again.

Thanks to "rkreisher" too...That link was amazing. I guess that the guitar in harchtop.com is similar to the one I saw in youtube.
