that looks awesome, can't wait to see it!

*wouldn't really consider the White Stripes guy as a musical icon or a guitar icon though.

Looks like a cool film. I'd watch it.

Look great, except for Jack White's horrible self in there. I hate that guy and everything he does, and we're both from the same town. Maybe its just me, but that guy's just a turd.

But that's what the fast forward button's for!

I had seen previews for this before. I think it was even here on one of the forums. If you check Sony's website, you see that they only have it selected cities. What gives, we get Hannah Montana at our theaters but not Jimmy Page and Edge???

I'm not a big U2 or WS fan, but Page makes the movie worth watching to me. They should have gotten two more icons to jam with Page, imho. :]

Jack White deserves the credit.

I think each guitarist brings a very different experience to the table (and 3 generations). Jimmy Page doesn't need any justification - he brings so much history and so many riffs to the table. The Edge started with punk roots, with a band that was not guitar-centric, and then developed his own unique, heavily-processed sound - not necessarily to everybody's taste, but he found his own sound - and his sound makes a major difference to the U2 sound. Jack White - love him or hate him, and I did find his segments, with a child actor playing him as a boy to be plain odd, he has a huge passion for the guitar and for real, heartfelt music. My opinion of him went up after watching the movie - he goes his own way and developed his own sound, just the same as JP and The Edge.
Who else would have fitted the 25 - 40 year old age group who has truly developed his own sound, and importantly for a movie with commercial aspirations, had significant chart success? I'd sure there are others, but not with Jack White's character...

I'm a little disappointed that it's apparently not playing anywhere near where I live. Looks like I'll have to wait for it to come out on DVD...

Guitar World did a feature story on it. It should be an interesting documentary. Just hope finding a venue showing it doesn't turn into a search for Dr. Livingston.

Saw it yesterday. Really entertaining actually.

Page is who he is. He comes across as charming, genuine and generous.

The Edge was open and self-effacing. Even a beginner can see how totally into his craft he is.

Jack White reminds me of every kid wearing black nail polish that I knew in high school. -Like he's playing a role, rather than being himself. I can't really comment on his playing skill, because I just don't know enough; he seems talented.

The candid moments with Page and Edge, plus some old footage of Yardbirds, Zep and U2 was worth the price of admission. This is one I'll grab on DVD.

[quote="doghandler"]Saw it yesterday.

Did you see it locally :?: Personally, I can't see how Jack White fits in with the others unless one considers generational leaps of about 20 years. I would sooner have had John Mayer in there. I feel he has a broader palette musically.

Went in to Pt. Wash. It's playing in the little vintage theatre on Main St.

Small screen, and five of us there, including my wife and me.

I've gotten my wife to the 'From The Cradle' Clapton tour at MSG, a couple of concerts recently at Five Towns College, whose summer concert series I HOPE you are acquainted with and, as an outgrowth of that, an appreciation for Pink Floyd and the work of David Gilmour.

Don't know that she would go for this flick but it might be worth a try.

Doc
