Hey All - im new to the forum, but not new to Fender - I have been playing strats for 17 years now - I have a story I wanna share and please comment on it

Ever since I was young and started playing guitar, I have had an addiction and love for the stratocaster - I got my first one in 92 and have owned a slew of them ever since

Think back to when you were 15 years old, or you may be 15 now, depends on the reader - well, imagine your dad handing you a 15 year old mint condition strat from the year you were born? Cool huh?

Well, I had always wanted to do that, if I had a son, I had planned on getting him a strat from the year he was born and put it away and give it to him when I felt he was old enough and mature enough to take care of it - My "ex" wife and I found out we were having a boy in the spring of '05, so the search started, I wanted a 3 tone burst Am. strat for my son - Well, I looked and looked, checked shop after shop and never could find an '05 in the 3 tone, so over the next year or more, I kept looking - realizing at this point, if I did find one, it was going to be used and that was ok - well, my son is almost 2 years old now and the search is finally over

I was lucky enough to find an auction for a 2005 3 Tone Sunburst Am. Strat - Not only was I lucky enough to find one, this one happened to be in some dudes music store that just simply never sold, so it is brand spanking new - still has all the tags on it, the stickers on it, the film on the pickguard, everything - new old stock basically - I was thrilled - won the auction - got the guitar way cheaper than a new one cost too, so that was just a bonus - got the thing from the UPS guy, opened it up and this guitar could not be more cherry, we are talking 100% mint condition - it actually brought a tear to my eye when I opened it up and hit a couple licks on it- I was so happy to know that I was able to do this for my son, something that I wanted to do long before I was married and long before he was even a glimmer in my eye - So, long story short - my 22 month old son has his first strat, a 2005 Am series 3 tone sunburst to be exact - it matches his daddy's 2001 to a tee!!

I plan on taking plenty of pics of him and the guitar while he is little and then just have it put away for him when he gets older - how cool will that be?

I will post some pictures of him and the guitar soon

I have thought about the possiblity of him not even wanting to play guitar or music at all, and it doesnt matter - he will have a soon to be vintage guitar that he can put away for my grandson!

If my dad handed me a Strat when I was 15 I woulda said "thanx" and traded it for a P bass.

It's a really sweet idea, man. I'm sure he's gonna be stoked when he gets it.
