MAny of you might remember the post about that orange gibson that some of us thought was so ugly... if not the post can be seen here.

...this Gibson "Zoot" takes the cake, this thing is so ugly it makes me want to vomit skittles.

Not a big fan of the paint scheme, but I see it's appeal to maybe some rich aging baby boomers.

I really really like the subtle funkiness of the headstock detail though.

I don't think it's paint... I believe it's many, many layers of dyed veneer, carved to reveal the crazy pattern.

That doesn't make it attractive, but...

The first one looks alot better than this. It looks like someone puked up a rainbow on it. It has that 60's psycodelic vibe to it. You'd really need to be high to enjoy it.

You're right slap, but paint scheme conveys the point about over all looks.

It is made from different sheets of birch laminated together. each sheet is dyed, and the lacquered. Each colour stripe you see is from a different sheet of the birch.

Now before people jump on it as a plywood guitar, there is a huge difference between laminating sheets of hardwood together and construction grade plywood. I would reserve the right to critique it's build method until after I play one. what i can say definitively from just seeing pictures is: i don't like how it looks, except the headstock.

I would say less like 60's psychedelic, and more like 80's gift shop

Kind of has that whole "Magical Mystery tour" kind of appeal. Obviously not for everyone. But if oyu like that kind of funky I can see it.

I want to try one out, but I can't see myself buying it.

There is a Blue/Brown version that is a lot calmer in person. The neck is narrower than a Les Paul, plays quick and comfortable. The pick-ups are vintage Gibson, dark and crisp. It is not as heavy as it looks, it just looks strange

This guitar was designed by Gibson's new creative director, Bud Tugly. 8)

Somertimes I like a little flash and dash. I like the Magical Mystery tour tie in 12B I can see that. You now how you hear people say thay don't like the Pink Pasley and the Blue Flower strats too. I would like to have a Blue Flower one.
