hey who else doesn't like all of the fancy high-tech digital stuff? i mean it's not bad or anything and i'll prolly end up having to use some of it but i still prefer the old-fashioned classic stuff. hey if it worked for page, hendrix, etc. it can work for me. btw i'm not an older person i'm a teenager thinking this!

I'm with you on that one. I mean all the high-tech stuff isn't bad, but is it all necessary? And I'm a teenager, also.

Digital is nice at home to mess around with different sounds.
Playing in a band i like the ''old '' stuff, guitar/tube-amp/overdrive/wah
and sometimes a chorus pedal.
Digital sounds to synthesised to me.

Peter :)

I love to use digital stuff to make digital stuff, I like to use analogue stuff to make analogue stuff. I Like to use both to make strange hybrid stuff. It's when you use one to imitate the other when things can start to go a bit wrong.

If you get me.

I do have a love for anything analogue though. Film cameras (I have way too many and I still shoot - and develop - film), tape recorders, tube amps, vinyls etc.

Each medium has its merits mind.

I'm 18 btw :)

The only thing I dislike about digital music technology is that it's preventing musicians from being musicians. You don't have to be able to play an instrument anymore. Just get a synth with a sequencer and you can build a song note by note, cut and paste. No musical skill involved or needed. I can sadly see the day when instruments are no longer needed at all.

The downside is no one will know the joy of a lifetime of sweat and hard work to master a single instrument. The upside is that creating music will be open to anyone with an tune in their head and a computer.

I'm not into the high tech stuff. I think just guitar and amp, and maybe a pedal thrown in every now and then is enough.

Like you said, the legends got by just fine without the things we have now. And I think everybody will agree when I say: "they sounded damn good back then".

That just my take on it all though.

I think there is a time and place for both. At least that is the way at my house. Recording at night or quiet times I use my PODXT and have a blast. Rock out time? Crank up the one of my Fender Tube amps and go to town. Its a wonderful time for musicians!

Only digital stuff I have is a DD-3 delay (affordable, convenient) and Audacity for my laptop recording.
But I tape myself with a tape recorder, then line input to the computer, so it's still analog. :)
