For “bedroom guitarists” who love jamming along with their favorite songs, the ultimate musical companion has arrived. eBand is a portable all-in-one audio player that’s packed with big features. WAV and MP3 files can be loaded and played by eBand, and the tempo and pitch can be changed. Plug in your guitar and jam along using the powerful onboard COSM® preamp and BOSS effects.

You can minimize the pre-recorded vocals or guitar parts with the Center Cancel feature for minus-one play, and record and save your jams. There’s even a library of backing tracks and rhythms onboard, plus a built-in tuner and metronome.

Did you watch the video? I really feel this is a helpful learning device for beginners, and pros alike.

Roland also has a new vocal processor pedal the 'VE-20: Vocal Performer' http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=1043&ParentId=72, just watch the demo, and be amazed.

Tony we need to put you to work.
You definitely seem like one of, if not the, most knowledgeable people with the recording gear/software.

You should put together a guide for what people need to get in order to start using their computers to record. And/or for some home recording stuff.

For instance it seems like none of the DAW sites have much to say about what you might need for inputs and/or controllers above and beyond their software, unless of coarse they sell it as a package.

There's so much stuff, but no good info on how to get your feet wet, presented in a straightforward way.

I know there is so much info out on in the web. I was always good at creating melodies/instrumentals that I felt a need to record.

But here, like someone else posted, Fender.com is a gear forum, due I thought to the younger crowd. Even Fender official position, is that this is a gear forum. My thought is that the more a musician records, the more gear they usually buy to achieve the tone they want.

I was told that if there was more interest generated in recording, that a separate recording 'room' would be created.

If you haven't had posted, I wasn't going to post anymore about recording. I was feeling that I was a having a party of one.

Even Gibson.com has a recording room, where I've helped others to start record.

i don't post, cus i am a bit of a caveman. I have used a few programs a bit, but it's a bit overwhelming trying to sort through too much info, and figure out what to buy to start doing some home stuff.

ie, I am looking at Sonar by Cakewalk. But for my computer what do I need for an interface for my guitar? Do i need a soundcard with any special jacks? What about those keyboard controllers? etc.

blahh!!!

I want to use my computer to play with. I want to be able to use loops, and drum tracks.

the only times I have used these kinds of programs have been at friends' places, but we had full bands, and just laid down live tracks. I want a toy for home.

I need to compile a list of stuff I need to get to start up. Would suck pretty hard to buy the software, but then have no way of connecting the guitar lol

I just got into computer recording about 18 months, only because I wanted I wanted to learn more about it. First, I must post that one of my brothers works for Roland, and he got me the Edirol UA-4FX http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=758&ParentId=114, it comes bundled with Cakewalk SONAR LE. I have a single core Athlon 3400+ with 2GB of RAM, and I had problems with SONAR LE. You need at least a dual-core to really work with SONAR LE.

But I had been reading about Reaper ($60) http://www.reaper.fm/, so I downloaded and installed it. Reaper works great, as a lot of plug-ins, but didn't have drums. Just last week I brought DurmCore http://submersiblemusic.com/TemplateHome.aspx?contentId=11, it works great with Reaper.

But, if I were you, I would consider a BOSS BR-600 http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=753&ParentId=110. It has great guitar and bass effects IMO, and it has drums, really easy to use. You'll spend more time recording, than trying to figure out how to record.

Plus I recorded a series of video tutorials on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkSQ5xlaPps
