I have friends in Afghanistan, so important to thank the troops of all the free nations for what they do. Good to see there's an emphasis on morale, and music.

Do you have a vacuum as part of your maintenance kit? A British friend who had been stationed in Iraq for a while said she went through 2 iPod's because of sand.

Yea, I use canned air, and a re-chargeable duster. I have a small vacuum cleaner but have not used that yet for my gear, but, maybe I will take it to the band work area and use it on my gear. It is a daily dusting chore though with my living space and electronics. It's not really sand though, it is a very fine dust, and it is everywhere, especially when the wind kicks up, and we get a lot of dust storms.

Thanks Twelvebar for the article. I have a lot of extra parts and three complete maintenance kits too. That's a great article, and it's good to see my Air Force Band brothers are "doin' werk" here too. I am on a twelve month tour though, whereas those cats "fly in" (no pun intended) for a month or so, do some shows at the large bases and leave. Thing is though, we get to re-set our equipment, (replace), whereas they have to return to their base and clean and repair and reuse, so it is paramount that they keep their stuff as clean as possible. I just need my gear to last to the end of my tour.

So can you put in for a Purple heart if you play til your fingers bleed?

Seriously keep up the good work. Combat soldiers deserve all the comforts they can be afforded. Your unit does good work.

As a retired Naval officer I know first hand what an impact what you do has on everyone's morale.
God bless you and thanks for being there!

I have added some more photos, I will eventually start posting photos of the full group as well on a new Flickr Set. Thanks again to all for all of your kind words, my Teams are doing incredible work here, and anyone who has been here will know how dangerous traveling around Iraq is still. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers...Thanks,
