does anyone know of a good online "if you like this then you should like these...." type search engine. like where i would put in a group i like and it would direct me toward others that are similar? i used to know a site that was really cool but lost it a while back. i tried looking for it but couldn't find any.

iTunes does a good job of that. I usually like the stuff they suggest, if I don't already know of it.

Amazon attempts the "if you like this ... you might like that" too.

Amazon also tracks purchases and makes suggestions on that basis. I'm not sure of any site that's pure search with no commercial interest though that would be pretty cool.

Check out Pandora internet radio. You type in an artist you like and it'll play songs by that artist and others that you might like. It actually works pretty good. I used it a lot when I started listening to blues and other kinds of music that I didn't know much about. I've found some great bands that way.

Pandora is great ... I got it on my Touch, so anywhere I can connect the Touch I've got the blues!

thanks for your help! i will definitely check out pandora's box. there used to be this really funky like liquid rubber band like thing i found but i think it is gone... i would connect you favorite groups with their influences. it was really cool but apparently not cool enough to make it or to job my fading memory for the name of it.

Pandora is about the best one that I know of too.
