Hello all, pardon my ignorance in advance as I am fairly new to guitars and Fender.

I just got done reading Tony Bacon's "6 decades of the Telecaster". Great book regarding the overall history of Fender.

It appears that when CBS sold Fender in 1985, there was a period of several years when really nothing was "made in the US". Does that mean that the guitars were all made in Japan and assembled here? So, my 1989 Tele, was it really made in USA?

Any better reference material would be great.

There was really only a period of a bout a year, where the only Fenders made in the USA were a small number of re issues. But your 89 is well into the period where production resumed stateside.
