What is THE BEST of the best of tones that you have heard in your life?

It could be a song, your tone, or anything. A lot of people talk about solos, but I haven't seen a thread which talked about the songs that have really nice tone.

For me, it would have to be (sorry Fender) a Gibson 335 into a vintage SLP cranked to 10. Haven't played it myself, but it sounds absolutely heavenly.

Voodoo Child (Slight Return) is a very close second though... my favorite strat tone EVER. Studio version only.

almost anything done by Stevie Ray Vaughn has incredible tone.

Dimebag Darrell got some pretty amazing tones out of his Dean and Randall amps.

and Jerry Cantrell got some really cool and diverse tones on the Alice in Chains cd 'Dirt.' Matter of fact that cd was the first cd that really blew me away with how each song had such a distinct guitar tone. I didn't even really care all that much about tone until I heard that cd.

Miles Davis's horn on "Kind Of Blue" and "Birth of the Cool."

Guitar players could learn a lot from trying to emulate THAT sound.

The tone I would most like to capture is "Blue Jean Blues" by ZZ Top. 8)

For me it's David Gilmours solo on "Time" off of Dark Side of the Moon.

Mine would be Gilmour's tone "Comfortably Numb".

I'm a devotee of the Ampeg-era Keith Richards tone. Say, for instance, Midnight Rambler from Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out. So raw, so powerful.
