As for fingers catching ... try arching your fingers more. The way I was taught (in formal lessons) was thumb roughly in the middle of the neck and fingers arched up over. This made sense because it is how I was taught on violin.

The technique may slow you a bit, but you may find that you're hitting each note with more accuracy and bends are more controlled.

Along similar lines, try moving patterns as others have suggested. Just don't worry about speed at first. Hit the notes and be accurate even if you're only playing at 1/2 the tempo of the original. Once you've trained your fingers where and how to land, the rest will come along.

Back in the day, I improved a lot of my soloing by playing lead to Pink Floyd. Put on some of the long Floyd jams (e.g., Shine on You Crazy Diamond, etc) and try to out-Gilmore DG. It was a good exercise for me because it reenforces melody and playing slowwwww (which is much harder than fast).

Yep, I've already gotten the "thumb in the middle of the neck and arch those fingers!!" technique down pat.

Yes, I completely agree with you there. Quality over speed. 8)

Thanks for the tips!!!! :D
