Hey guys, I was looking into setting my strat up in a Jeff Beck sort of way. Think somewhere over the rainbow. I was wondering if I should swap the nut on my american deluxe or if I should get another guitar or even build my own out of various parts. Any suggestions would be great as I dont know what i should do, or even any tips as what parts you suggest. Thanks

Before you do anything, I suggest you go play one of his signature models. Then, if you like it and still want to pursue it, you'll have eyeballed many of the parts needed for your guitar. You can also check here:

http://www.fender.com/support/wiring_di ... _lists.php

Scrolling down to his signature guitar and peruse what you may require here too.

Martian you got here pretty fast . Yes without a doubt go play his signature model as to get an idea. But just putting on an LSR nut is not going to cut it. The guitar has a neck that I personally have not felt on any other model I am not one who uses the bar much but there is no way that is the same setup Beck uses. Even on Custom shop models the trem reviews are worse than the artist series. A few violent shakes and a dive and you are completely out of tune. If you go to guitar Hangar they have a master built Beck now that I would have to believe would hold tune. I have so many Beck dvds and on 2 of them he never even makes a guitar change which is mind boggling. This is what pisses me off Beck might be the best player in the world period #1 and also the #1 master of the trem so you would think his model would go the extra mile to make sure it can stay at least in decent tune but that is not the case but I do love the way the guitar sounds and plays and as I stated I am not big with the bar so in my case it dont matter. If you cant get the scratch for an artist model than I would get a set of hot noiseless pickups,an LSR nut,and buy the best trem be it Fender or whoever and a set of Schallers which I love over any other tuners and you would be pretty much equiped to play your Beck licks or songs. And it might even be better because you are going to have to have your style come through I mean you dont want to be a clone of anyone its fun to play others songs and licks but until you become you no matter how simple you wont cut it.
