Saw AC/DC last night. Am currently managing my ringing ears and trying to summon the energy to go to work this morning. They wrecked me.

Never before, even having seen countless videos of them playing live, did I realize how powerful five short, ugly Australian and Scottish men could sound. Angus, at 54, is unbelievable; he came out manic, and stayed jacked up for well over two hours. The thing I was most impressed with, however, was the rhythm section. Maclolm, Cliff and Phil kept it chugging along without so much as a drop in energy. Sixteen steps forward and sixteen steps back: they didn't move around much, but damn could they stoke the fires of rock. This concert made me a believer again in the power of three chord rock.

I was also impressed by Phil Rudd's capacity to simultaneously play the drums and smoke cigarettes. He had one going for virtually the whole show. Interestingly, Angus was seen to be wearing a nicotine patch under his shirt (which, suffice to say, came off rather quickly. I have a funny feeling he wears it because he can't smoke onstage for two hours and needs a fix.

Check out "Ain't No Fun Waiting Round To Be A Millionaire" off one of the early albums with Bon. Two minutes of rock steady rhythm over ONE D powerchord. That's what you are talking about!!

And it's a good song.
