Guitars are like wine or beer, everyone has a favorite brand. I used to have a ESP LTD:

I did not like the way it played so I traded it on a Squier CV 60 (I was actually looking for a Fender Standard, but could not find one worth buying):

It played better and I did not need the Floyd Rose Tremolo anymore, but I missed the sound of the Humbucker I had in the ESP so I did this to my HWY 1:

I have owned ESP/LTD, Gibson, Jackson, Charvell, Krammer, Mako, Hammer, BC Rich guitars, and a couple off name brand Strat clones and for me the Fender/Squier Stratocasters are always where I return.

Fender/Squier guitars play nice, sound great, and are easy to work on. You can get them any way you wish.

For me its the way they feel when you play one. The neck is very comfortable and feels natural in my hands. The contour of the body molds to you when you are standing with it. It feels like it is an extension of you. Here is the kicker. In my hands, and to my ears, when I play a Strat I don't necessarily think a it sounds as good as a Tele, or maybe even a Les Paul. Yet I can listen to other people play a Strat and think wow, it really doesn't get any better than this. But I also believe I hear music differently when I play vs. when I listen to someone else play.
Thats just me, but maybe there are others who would agree.

I too am a Hendrix freak so much so that I bought a lefty and strung it for right hand,I also have a '65,a 50th ann. and a stratacoustic. You really can't do justice to Hendrix music on anything but a Strat,it was such an integral part of his sound.Only a Strat can produce the feedback frequencies that Jimi created and that between pups out of phase sound. The vibrato arm too plays a big part no others perform like a Strats. If you're gonna play Jimi you gotta have a Strat.

You know that Jimi recorded a bunch of that stuff with a Telecaster or a Flying V, right?

Apparently, to play like Jimi, you sort of need to be Jimi.

I know that Jimi used these guitars too but it seems that he was more comfortable playing his pyrotechnically dazzling stuff on a Strat. He was also known to use a Fender Duosonic and Jazzmaster in his pre-Experience days.He also used a Les Paul on a track or two on Electric Ladyland(House Burning Down?)on the Dick Cavett Show he used a triple pup SG bodied Les Paul Custom with a vibrola(there's footage of his whole performance on eitherYoutube or Experience....at least that's where I think I saw it.).In one of the many books I have on Jimi He's also said to have used an Epiphone but I forget what model although it may have been a Sheraton.I know that only Jimi could play like Jimi,I just meant that to do justice to covering any material by him you really need a Strat.I've been playing for almost 45 years and I could never dream of playing one tenth as well as Jimi.If you want to see a modern day Strat master check out Philip Sayce on Youtube,he's a Jimi meets Stevie Ray meets Jeff Healy.Keep on pickin'.

Strats are great because you can do whatever you want with them--not just musically, but also electronically or aesthetically...

You can use a Strat to play everything from blues to country to nu-metal to shred to straight-ahead rock & roll to jazz.

The variety of different pickups, headstocks, finishes, hardware, fretboard material, fretsize, neck profiles, tremolos, non-tremolos, price range, etc. is staggering...and that's just talking about stock Stratocasters!

MIA, MIM, MIJ, MII, Squiers--all of them have enough variety of options and variety of price points, that if you can't find what you're looking for, you're too picky!

You can also easily change the pickups for different tones (even changing the pickup configuration from S/S/S to S/S/H or H/S/H or whatever), pickguards/knobs/etc. for different looks, you can even change the switching options (if you have a soldering iron) and you can make a basic Strat into anything you want (tonally or visually), with a little gumption and some official or aftermarket parts.

In my opinion, the Stratocaster is the most versatile guitar ever--I play my modded Fiesta Red MIA '62 reissue at every gig and most recording sessions and it never disappoints...

...but I love my Telecaster, too!

I dont own one But Ive played many and out of all the guitars ive tried I always come back to strats, their light, simple Great and easy to play. Im a big Fan of Gibson, But they are so expensive, too heavy, and you they only come the way Gibson likes them. Strats Come in so many finishes, they have plenty of different parts to Mod. A Much Easier Price As well. Try them all out, feel them for yourself, you'll know what feels best when you try it, thats something you need to figure out for yourself, But for me and many others, Its a Strat. 8)

I like the sound and the big feel of it, but the middle pickup does get in the way, and it annoyed me enough to not play it anymore. (Harmony copy). My Jazzmaster does the trick though.

I say, if you like it, go for it.
