(You opened it anyway, didn't you?)

I absolutely HATE the letter Q.

Q is the stupidest invention of the western culture since monarchy.

The most useless letter in the English language. Tell me one instance where Q couldn't be substituted by a K!

Where was I when they created this letter? By the way, I'm also partially against X and Y, and although I have absolutely very few problems with U, it tends to hang out with the wrong crowd (Q).

:lol: :lol: :D

So Kw just doesn't look as nice as Qu, even though it's the same pronunciation?

Aha! I think I know why. People (English speakers and others) don't like to see two consonants next to each other like that, especially those two. We just like vowels a lot, and the words that we can't seem to pronounce contain too few vowels as compared to consonants.

'Qu' just looks pretty, that's all!

;)

Sometimes you can judge a book by its cover.

This appears to be quite the quarreling here boys and girls. Shouldn't we be quiet as it is getting late? This could turn into a quagmire of sorts without question!

Quintessentialy I say the letter Q is a must...for without how could you have words like:

Quirpele: an indian ferret...or,
Quebracho: a type of tree..or even...
Quob: To throb or quiver.

I say we bring it before a quorum of our members for a vote...but before we do remember you can't have the complete Fender Line without Q: squier, Quad Reverb amps, etc.

I may have gotten a wee bit carried away but I wanted to be a Quodlibetarian...discussing any subject at pleasure for a spell... :wink:

Now to bed...tomorrow the importance of the letter R (Hint...it's in the words Fender Guitar...the true reason we're here) :lol: :D

You can spell "Orvilleowner" without a "Q" ...

So go ahead and use a "kw" instead, it's alright with me!

I still hate Q. All those words could be replaced with K. The only reason they look weird with a Kw is because we're so used to the letter Q (kyu, sorry)!

Quesadillas= kesadillas (doesn't look that Spanish, but I'm mostly talking about English)

Squier=Skuier or Skwier

Question= Kweschun

So, let's use a setens:

Teecher, I havv a kweschun.

Yes?

Wye duzz thuh letter kyu eggzist?

My lord, this setence looks ridiculous already. I'll stop.

Oh, man! That list read like one those stupid LOLCat things....

Besides, with out the letter Q, how could James Brown "Hit it and Quit..."?

Really, though... it's the language that was agreed upon when the forefathers landed on the big rock. It's bad enough hip-hoppers, rappers and skaters mangle it.

Just sayin'... :wink:

i think you might have luck if you learned the alphabet used by bilbo and the gang at the shire. if you refer to the back pages of "The Return of the King" (the book, not the dvd) you'll be happy to find the characters and what sounds they represent. everything spelled using their alphabet was done phonetically, so "Q" would be represented by the characters that produce that particular sound.
my jr. high buddies and i learned the alphabet and used it as our code to send notes.
boy, was my english teacher confused when i wrote the answers on my "The Hobbit" test in their writing. she made me write it all over again... so i wrote it backwards. she told me she corrected the test using a mirrror :)
