Motown is more on the pop side, my friend. If I need a shot of R&B I go to either Atlantic/Stax or Chess. There you will find all the greats of R&B not to mention Chicago Blues and Rock n' Roll. Motown is okay, but the others are more guitar based. Where Motown is basically vocal groups.
