Hello All,

I'm interested in a pedal to make my Strat sound at
least a bit more like an acustic guitar. I did try a Boss AC-3
and did not come away impressed. Is this the only one out there?
Is it a good one? A better choice?

Now I'm not expecting to get the sound of a vintage Martin
just something a bit less filter sounding than the Boss.

Thanks.

Cheers.

I've had the Boss AC-3 for about a year and a half, and so far I've been very happy with it. In fact, I get compliments on it all the time from my lead guitar player. I'm sure you tried out all the adjustments. If not, it gives you several different types of acoustical guitars to chose from. And within each choice (of guitar), you can adjust the bass and treble to give you a lot of different sounds within each of the guitar settings. Also......you can adjust the degree of reverb.

But.......like anything else.....we all have different tastes and everything doesn't sound the same to each of us (with guitars, amps, etc.). So it all boils down to a person's personal preference.

Good luck on you pedal hunting. Maybe you can find a brand that you like.

Hello Skylops,

I fooled around with it for about 5 minute or so,
played it through a Line 6 amp. I'm gonna head over
to the superstore and try one out there. I saw some
youtube vids so now I got a little better idea what it's
all about. Thanks for the input.

Cheers.

I play mine through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. But I've had it sound good through other amps. Again........everyone has different tastes on sound. It's very subjective, so don't like it, because I do. But......if you didn't like the sound, last time around, try going through the different acoustic sound settings, then play with the tone controls for adjusting the bass and treble (they're not named "treble" and "bass"). Those controls are called "Body" and "Top".

The choices for types of acoustic guitar are........."Standard", "Jumbo", "Enhance", "Piezo". I, myself, prefer the "Jumbo" setting. With the right adjusting of the "Body" and "Top" controls......you can make that sound different ways. The "Jumbo" setting gives you the sound of a dreadnought acoustical guitar. My favorite setting.

If you still don't like this pedal......then time to look at another brand that does the similar task.

Good luck.
