Me and my buddy really aren't that good at guitar but we love playing. We are true beginners we know a couple of chords and a couple solos but what are some good songs for two beginners to jam to? thanks

How about some basic 12 bar blues? One of you do the 12 bar rhythm and the other try and noodle around that, Then switch out.

There are lots of great, simple rock songs that even beginners can jam out on. Just off the top of my head:

Wild Thing -- The Troggs
You Really Got Me -- The Kinks
Iron Man -- Black Sabbath
I Wanna Be Sedated -- The Ramones
Clash City Rockers -- The Clash
I Can't Explain -- The Who
Smoke on the Water -- Deep Purple
Weezer -- Say It Ain't So

Go pick out some Beatle tunes as there are so many great parts for two players and more than enough that should not be too difficult but they will sound great. Plus as AllThumbs stated work on the blues and switch taking turns playing rhythm and lead and even work on some major pentatonic progressions.

I'll agree with Jeffo. I started out learning everything on the Back in Black album.

I started with Beatles and Stones (though they weren't "old" back in 1967 when I was starting). The advantages were that they're relatively easy to play and others will recognize them when you nail it.

I can't name anything "today" but the concept would be the same -- pick tunes with 3 / 4 chord relatively standard progressions. If you go for tunes your friends will know, you also have the feedback angle (and the audience when you have 'em down)!
