My band practices twice a week 2 to 3 hours each session - more when we have a gig.

I'm not sleeping well so I'm up around 2 AM jamming until 4 or 5 then I'm off to work. I have a guitar in my office so I play a little during the day to keep my sanity.

Call me crazy, but I absolutely hate the term "practice". It seems like a rather unemotional way to describe playing guitar. I have to laugh at myself, because I'd probably progress ten times faster if I had structured practice sessions that focus on one thing or another. I can't do it like that though, it takes the fun out of it for me.

I play about 2.5 hours a day. Some days more, some days less. I turn on some backing tracks and let it rip, or maybe I'll be sitting in front of the computer trying to figure out a certain song, or I'll just start playing and take it where it goes, just kinda jamming. But I can't say I ever sit down and practice certain techniques or scales for an allotted amount of time. I used to try to take time and perfect techniques one at a time when I was first learning. Once I got past a certain point, playing what I felt like playing was my practice.

Like I said, not putting down anyone's practice techniques. I could benefit from them. But it just doesn't suit me.
