There was "Hot fun in the summertime" from Bill948 and after that I came across a thread about songs you play outdoors from a local guitar forum from which I'm a member. http://www.quebec-musique.com/forum.htm
I post the link because I don't want to be seen as the guy who takes ideas from a forum and start a new thread with others stuff. Anyway. I thought that the idea was fun and I wanted to start this thread here, so, what do you play when you bring your acoustic outside? (Firecamp or not).(What the heck, if you bring your electric outside it might work too).

Scarborough fair canticle. Simon and Garfunkel.
A horse with no name. America.
Old man. Neil Young.
Helpless. Neil Young.
Our house. Graham Nash.
California dreaming. The mamas and the papas.

The idea is to share songs ideas so please try to avoid repetitions. It is also clear that some of you may know a lot of songs, so don't hesitate to fill the gaps, or make it a top ten list as you wish. :)
See ya.

Aside from The Stephen Foster songbook, I play almost anything from Jimmy Buffett to James Taylor to Richie Havens.

The Camptown Ladies sing this song...do dah, do dah...

City Of New Orleans, Arlo Guthrie
Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Bob Dylan
and don't forget any 12 bar blues...

Hello Claude Gallichand,

Couple of Bob Dylan songs come to mind
as good strummers.

When I paint my Masterpiece & You ain't goin nowhere.
change the lyrics to suit for more fun.

Cheers.

I haven't had a chance to play around a campfire yet myself, but I do remember a party I went to years ago, would have been about 1990, all grad students from different departments who didn't know each other very well. A few guys had brought guitars and were trying to play different songs but no one knew them. Finally someone tried "Rocky Mountain High" and finally hit the groove - it turns out everyone there knew every word to every John Denver song. It turned into a real celebration, and I think some lasting friendships were formed that night.

Don't own an acoustic so I'll do it on a mini marshall 2 watt amp, and I don't sing so 9 out of 10 times I'm just doing some blues stuff, improvising or doing lead for another guitarist

What, no Beatles? Start Michelle or I Want to Hold Your Hand, and by the first chorus the guitar is lost in the voices.
