Wow, I went to the McCartney concert here in Atlanta last night. Even though it poured, the show still went on and it rocked. He's gonna be making two more stops before the tour ends. He's playing a great set and I suggest going to see him if you can.

No, they didn't let people bring cameras. But some of it is on youtube.

What can you say about the guy that has not been said. Even though he has taken some flak in recent years after he is no longer with us he will probably go down as the greatest musical forces there ever was. One half of the greatest song writing team in history, one of the greatest voices in rock history, one of the greatest bassist in rock history, could play drums as he has done on first two solo albums in fact he played all instruments on first album, played piano, could play keyboards- well how do you think Linda learned, plays ukalaley,is an amazing guitarist, thats Paul playing lead on ,Taxman,Baby you can drive my car,Ticket to ride.Michelle and Good Morning Good Morning. Plus besides his solo playing just the note choices of solos like My Love and Maybe Im Amazed just show a genius at work. And you can see at close to 70 he still loves to perform and his voice still sounds great and he is not out there to make a buck because he sure as hell dont need the money. Now only if we were not robbed of the equal genius of John and all the great moments that would of eventually took place. For you young guys out there the solo on Nowhereman is George and John soloing in unison on there Strats.

I agree with that in later years of the Beatles, many of the solos were played by Paul and John (both were excellent lead players). But "Taxman"?? That was a pretty important lead guitar solo at the time primarily for the tone that was always attributed to George... Are you sure?

There's been a lot of confusion over who played lead guitar on this track. Harrison said in his 1977 Crawdaddy interview: "I helped out such a lot in all the arrangements. There were a lot of tracks though where I played bass. Paul played lead guitar on 'Taxman,' and he played guitar - a good part - on 'Drive My Car."

Jeff Emerick said in his book on recording the Beatles that Harrison just couldn't get the solo right, so Paul played most of the guitar parts, including the solo. The repeat of the solo at the end of the song was the same "exact" solo by Paul, which Jeff dubbed from the middle of the song to another piece of tape and cut into the fade at the end.

Yes I am positive that was Paul. Probably because he felt he had it for that number . I will say I feel George is the most underated lead player in history. He was the perfect bandmate and never worried about ego. He totally played for the song. When you think of all the perfect riffs and fills that are just taken for granted its almost not fair. And his slide work is in a class of its own as it sounds like no one else but George. It has that sweet sweet tone to it. Anyone who has seen the concert for George can see how much the guy was loved and respected. And it is the only time I have seen Clapton play one of his immortal solos note for note (While my guitar gently weeps) to get Eric to sit and learn one of his solos note for note showed me the respect he had for George. He rarely starts off with the first 5 original notes of his recorded solos.

Eric Clapton didn't have to learn the "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" solo. It was his. He played it on the Beatles White Album.

warnegt I know Clapton played it on the white album. But he did have to sit and relearn how he played it as he played it note for note on the concert for George. And anyone can attest that Clapton NEVER plays a solo live the way he recorded it. Even some of his most famous, lets take Badge or White Room where you know the first 10 melodic notes of the solo he just improvises and comes out of left field with whatever is on his mind at the time. Which I cant stand because certain solos should start out with at least the head and then you can take it where it has to go. And yes he had to sit and relearn it you think he remembers how he played it 40 years ago. There is a clip of Jennifer Batten on you tube giving an interview and she talks about when she was touring with Michael Jackson and was playing in the studio and Vanhalen just happened to be right next door and came in and asked her to play the Beat it solo for him because he did not remember how he did it and she said 'Talk about being under pressure'
