I LOVE playing slide, and I know there are some like minded people out there in the Fender Fourms. 8) Share what tunings you use, what slides you like, and what kind of music you play. I like playing regular guitar, but slide is a lot of fun. Long live the bottleneck!

HEY GUY...A SLIDE BASSIST VERY COOL !!

I am in a original Blues band who has put put 3 cd's and played on several more.

MY FAVORITE THING TO PLAY is slide in the sings...the cool thing about slide is that you can play it while the singer is singing or as a lead it fits anywhere at anytime.

Some find it very hard to learn with the open tunings but it came natural tome..I've been playing for 40+ years and never took a lesson till lately and that was just to challenge myself as I felt I was getting into a rut....it's an ongoing never ending learning trip so i figured time to go some where NEW !!!

My favorite ax for playing slide is either my 71 TELE CUSTOM or my absolute favorite is my 1966 FIREBIRD 111 with 3 P-90's !!!!!.

Playing that through a DELUXE REVERB BLACKFACE is like HEAVEN..

It;s NOT for all as some will always prefer to hear SHREDDING but in the BLUES without some slide it seems something is missing.

SLide seems to fit nicely into BLUES and ROCK and SOME COUNTRY but ROCK N ROLL and many other genre's never embarrassed the sound of it.

THERE LOSS !!!!

St James.....slide on

BTW what do you use..a BOTTLE NECK OR BRASS.....I have a nice heavy brass ring I wear on mu pinky....the bottle leaves a lot of tone on the table IMO.

Some think a slide is a slide but it is not it's as big as WHAT STRINGS you use !!!!! 8)

well I don't play slide bass, but that would be very cool. I use both, metal and bottleneck. I use pretty heavy strings, too.

Guys you've got my attention, I started to experiment slide very lately and I need to figure out everything. I watched a lot of videos on youtube and I want to learn more. I'm trying open D and open G tunings and it's not a natural thing for me yet. I also bought a ring finger slide from Jim Dunlop no:213 and a pinky slide also from Jim Dunlop no:203. Right now I'm playing on my acoustic guitar, but when the time comes I might get myself a dedicated guitar for this. Thanks again guys, I'll be watching this thread. :)
