well warpfield if you look back, priest, halen, rush, nugent, even scorpions became big in the 70's.

and nobody mentioned Sabbath?!?!? shame shame

but yes i the 70s definitely laid the groundwork for metal in the 80s. Not all of the 80s were bad. Sure there were bands that i couldnt stand, but most of it was good
