I said what I meant, and it stands. 8) .
No opinions are required, inspired or desired.
I own 15 Fender instruments (11 guitars and 4 basses).
I happen to own more Gibson instruments. I know employees at both companies and have dealt and deal with artist reps at both.
Fender should honor Les Paul on the front page.

No matter what your opinion is about the two guitar companies, or the never ending debate on which is better. I think we all agree that Mr Paul made serious contributions to the industry, and is respected and will be missed by all.

The man Les Paul was never a competitor of Fender LOL. Don't confuse the man with the company. He was a genius who invented sound on sound recording, pioneered the solid body electric guitar, echo, reverb and countless other inventions as well as being one of the finest musicians who ever existed.

I saw him just this past November and although he didn't play like he did in his younger days, he could still smoke many of the young guys today.

He does deserve to be honored. By every electric guitar manufacturer.

I'm glad I got to see him one last time.

There is nowhere to hide from the respect and props LES PAUL is receiving on every news and cable channel even on Bill O Reilly Les got his due. Slash called him his friend and mentor and talked about the first couple of times he went down to jam with Les and just got smoked off the stage. But Les loved how he kept coming back and I guess that is why one of our forum members put up a post talking about Slashes jazz chops now we know how he honed them. This is only the start as every guitar magazine will have huge tributes and all the heavy players comments on Les and the one big factor here is Les was also one of the greatest players ever. There is no high school nonsense here as the top guys at Fender all own or played a Les Paul at one time or another. This is about respect. I just finished a great two page spread on George Fullerton in Vintage Guitar today. When you look at it who is left we really just about lost all the forefathers of the electric guitar. But I believe for the next few months there will be mutual respect and harmony between both sets of players. As many times as you can flip a coin and say what is the greatest guitar in history it will always be a dead even tie between a Strat and Les Paul.

Les Paul, 1915-2009

It is with great sadness and respect that Fender notes the passing of a dear and longtime friend and a true giant of the electric guitar and popular music, Les Paul.

Paul, 94, passed away Thursday, Aug. 13, in White Plains, N.Y., after a battle with pneumonia.

Born Lester William Polfuss in Waukesha, Wis., on June 9, 1915, he grew up to become an accomplished guitarist who scored many ’50s-era hits with his then-wife, Mary Ford. His innovative contributions to the electric guitar and to recording technology made him one of the most important figures in the history of modern popular music.

Paul continued frequent public nightclub performances well into his 90s. He was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1978, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and the National Inventors Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2005.
