I thank Les Paul for more than just a name on a guitar. I thank him for the innovations he made in electronics and multi track recording. Without which i wouldn't have a job currently. It's pretty awesome what he innovated. Taking a railroad tie and making it sing was just the tip of the enormous iceberg he created. I think everyone including Leo would like to say cheers Les. I'll see you when i get there.

When I saw Les a year ago, he seemed a bit confused off stage. Though we mourn the loss of this guitar great, I am glad that he left this world as sound-minded as he did. His focus and strength is often a luxury at his age and I'm just glad we didn't see any fall from his legendary demeanor and grace. We remember him as the hard-working and creative powerhouse that he always was. He left this world in a way that we would hope to go- he did what he loved for his last years, he had a long and productive life, and lastly he died with his loving family by his side. The man was truly blessed and he will be deeply missed.

We all owe a debt of gratitude to Les Paul, for his contributions to music in general and the electric guitar in particular.

Shame on Fender for the pathetically short blurb about Les Paul on the news page. It is disingenuous to ignore the fact that he was the heart and soul of Gibson, and that the Les Paul model is arguably the most recognizable guitar in the world. Even though I am a Fender player and Fan, I don't pretend there are no other guitar companies in the world. If Bill Gates died, would they forget to mention he was the co-founder of Microsoft?

He was in town less than a year ago for some rock hall music series. Couldn't make it down to see him (did get the Ventures to autograph an album). Darn so close to a legend and missed the opportunity!

RIP Mr. Paul there will be a little bit of you in all us guitarists.

Don't jump on them yet. It took Fender a day or so to put up something substantial on George Fullerton and he was a big part of the company. Give them some time and they probably will put something profound about Les Paul on the site.

I already posted elsewhere about this, but a sad day for the guitar and music.

Here's one of my favorite Les Paul moments-
