Thank you from the bottom of this heart and bon voyage to the next realm, to the magnificent, humble, inventive, talented man who enticed this picker into a lifelong love affair with the electric guitar.

Way back when, in Chicago, Les and wife Mary Ford did a 5-minute TV stint, after the original Walt Disney show, before the 6 o'clock news. They played 2 songs each weekday and this young mind was enamoured to cosmic heights by that angels-voices electric guitar sound.

A living legend shall live on with the other immortal musical greats So, here's Les, with Mary, having a drink and swapping riffs with Wolfy Mozart and Joey Seb Bach.

"Dear one, the world, is waiting for the sunrise...."

Oh, and by the way, he liked the Deluxe with mini-humbuckers best.

Just heard this on the news on the television. :(

Even though I've only played two of your guitars in my thirteen years of being on this earth, by God, probably the best sounding guitar I've ever played. I'm just in love with the tone of it. :P

Thank you for everything you've done for music as we know it today, and how it has progressed throughout the years. You've been a crucial and vital part in the history of music, and it's not just me who thanks you.

May you rest in peace, love, joy, relaxation, and all that other good shtuff. 8) Keep on rockin' and rollin' up there, Les.... <3 <3 <3 <3

Edit: Typo

Les Paul invented today's common multi-track recording technique when he modified the Ampeg 200 into a multi-track machine and pushed Ampex to create an 8-track recorder of his own design based on the 200 which became the Ampex 300 and a studio staple.

Every recording engineer and producer knows this but this contribution that reshaped the architecture of the recording process is overshadowed in the guitar community by his guitar creations. He was not only a talented player and innovative electric guitar design pioneer but a multi-faceted artist whose conceptual impact we hear on every recording since the Ampex 300 debuted.

This truly sad news. I just saw him at the Iridium Jazz Club in Manhattan in November. There are a few of us that go to NY, check out the music stores and see Les. It started to be a yearly thing. I wish we got to see him more than twice. His shows were always fun, and he played incredibly well for a man of his age.

RIP Les, and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

63supro and others who got to see him, treasure those memories. I had been trying to make a plan with my guitar teacher to try to go, but we couldn't find the right week. There's a lesson in there to seize the day.

RIP, he will be missed but remembered forever, for contributions to both guitar and recording technology.

An immeasurable loss. Les had a huge impact on the evolution of music, recording and the electric guitar. A brilliant player... one of Jeff Becks' idols if I'm not mistaken. RIP Les Paul.

Ditto in October. I had the feeling I was pushing the years and it was time to really make it happen. Sure glad I did. We should all have had such a life.

A sad day. When you look at the state of pre-computer sound recording, the 8 track and the early days of multi track recording in general belonged to one man, Les Paul.
There is an episode of the P.B.S. series American Masters titled "Les Paul, Chasing Sound", it's out on DVD and worth the price.
Rest in peace Mr. Paul and thank you for your conrtibutions and the advancements they brought about.

Say hello to Chet for me,
John.E
