Man if Peavey buys Gibson I will deffinitly guy my first Gibson. Just keep the staff and have Hartley come in to run it. I am going to get shot down for this but I would like to see him buy Fender and keep the same staff and workers and I am not from the south.lol I picked up a Wolfgang custom shop on ebay and wanted to know about it. This was just yesterday I went from the operator to customer service who then put me on with Steve the company guitar tech who said I want to check something for you can I have your number and call you back. 20 minutes later Steve calls and says I am going to have Chris call you. Can you believe this? And this is an ax I bought on ebay that was called the Eddies Dozen which was a Custom Shop Wolfgang that they gave away one every month for a year to celebrate the opening of there custom shop and anyone in the world was eligable not just the states. So I was told mine was won buy a guy in the UK on 1/23/03. Then I thought of that post when the girl broke the neck in the car crash on her Fender and they would not give her a new one, and I said if it was Peavey they would of sent flowers and a new neck. Then Slapchop comes on being Slapchop saying this is a buisness and I said well I did not mean free but they would of gotten her a neck. Well I take it back I think they would of sent the flowers and given her a new neck. That guy knows how to run a company and treat the people who buy his products right. Now everyone can shoot all the wise cracks they want I am born and bred in Bklyn nothing is going to phase me .lol But I wish Peavey all the best and hope they can turn out some more axes like the Wolfgang or HP special or better yet buy Gibson or Fender. FIRE AWAY

I must have missed something.
Interesting article but I don't see anything about Gibson looking to sell.

I can't see Henry Juszkiewicz selling to Peavey. Gibson is the sixth largest in revenue in the music instrument business. And I don't see where you got that idea from the article

I have to agree with you, when I saw this topic I wasnt sure what to think from it, and I dont see why. Gibson Is one of the big ones doing well so Their not struggling... Unless peavey Was sold to gibson, That would be slightly more believable..

I think hendrixfan99 is referring to the fact that all the images in the article (with the exception of the video) are courtesy of Gibson.

He's accusing Gibson of "selling out" in the metaphorical sense, not actually selling the company. 8)

I guess i was looking at it more from a business stand point then Gibson compromising its values....I guess I should look at the pictures more when I read articles, that is the ones that have pictures.

I am sorry guys as I dont know how to link threads or post pics. But that has been the buzz all over the web that Gibson was looking to sell and Peavey was the buyer. I did not even read the article on the post as I thought it was like the others I have read and I dont put out bum wires.lol You can go to Harmony Centrals forum and punch in search Peavey buying Gibson and theres like 7 pages or GOOGLE it. I did not get some inside info I am only reading whats been being talked about and passing it on.But it is being talked about a lot. Wow I will say that even on Harmony Central there is no love lost for Gibson take this quote. "Peavey is a privately held company with HUGE profit margins. They do have enough money to buy...er... bail Gibson out. Rumor has it that Gibson has failed to be profitable in quite a while. All this at a time when they are trying to go public. They are ripe for the kill.Gibson has successfully ruined great guitar lines like Tobias and Steinberger. Its about time someone else take over and turn the company around " I have to say some of the things people are saying on other forums about Gibson make the things said here look tame.lol ARE THEY REALLY THE EVIL EMPIRE.

watch the prs video

Quote:
follow along the assembly line as beautiful designer guitars are built by hand in the PRS factory.

then they go on about

Quote:
once the glue is dry,the rough shape of the guitar is bandsawed ,then they go onto a cnc machine

so basicly they are saying our guitars are handmade except for the parts that computers made

i've done cnc programing and i had to laugh at that part, im not knocking cnc, no human on earth could compete. its just funny to hear them try to pass it off as hand made

to me hand made means made with hand tools only

Times have been tough in the industry for a few year like everything else. When Woodwind & Brasswind and Brook Mays went bankrupt they hit suppliers with over 60 million in debts as much as 30% of some companies profits they say. Peavey has outside interest thats not in the music industry so that may help and I think they are ranked 10th in the industry. So who knows I can't see it byt stranger thing happen

8)

GIBSON is NOT selling out if anything they are getting BIGGER and are beginning to get ready to start to open there own stores and sell NOTHING but GIBSONS AND EPIS AND EVERYTHING ELSE IN THERE COMPANY and sub companies.

Gibson had GUITAR CENTER invest over 30 million not but 3 years ago and another 25 million last year.

This is why GC has so many LIMITED EDITIONS OF THERE OWN.

EVEN with the economy and the non stop price increases GIBSON 's are still selling our FENDER, PRS and all the other mfgrs. who matter.

According the industry books and trade shows for every 5 guitars sold..
1 is a FENDER OR A FENDER PRODUCT, 1 is yet another HIGHER END AX like PRS or SOME OF THE UK BRANDS.
BUT THE OTHER THREE ARE GIBSON:S OR GIBSON PRODUCT.

Gibson is having the same explosion that HARLEY had in the early to mid 90;s...but I think that GIBSON is making a BAD move at trying to open GIBSON STORES.....DUE NEXT YEAR !!!!

But it would be nice if everyone paid the same price, though I am one of the lucky ones who get great deals it[s not fair to those how don;t know a store manager and pay STICKER....GIBSON wants all ax's priced atone price everywhere.

GIBSON does offer one MAJOR thing FENDER DOES NOT...
.DIFFERENT MODELS

FENDER NEEDS TO BRING BACK THE CORONADO AND SOME OTHER MODELS OR GET SOME NEW IDEAS ON THE TABLE THEY BASICALLY HAVE THE SAME OFFERING THEY HAD IN THE 60's !!!

BUT STILL NUMBER ONE IN MASS AMPLIFIER SALES !!!!!!!

I may have many more GIBSON:S than I do FENDERS but I love my TELES and would be lost without my FENDER AMPS !!!!

MY 2 CENTS

Guys, please read the whole thread instead of just reading the OP and getting to post. Russianracehorse got it right. I don't really care for Gibson selling the company, I'm talking about them publicizing everything, maybe it is linked to what you all have stated.
