The other night I was surfing thru the channels, and saw that VH1 had a Stortellers segment with David Bowie. I'm a big David Bowie fan, and have been since the early '70s.

I was surprised that I haven't ever seen this showing. During the show Bowie talked a new album (this was in 1999) 'hours. Wha! I had never heard of that album, I thought I had every Bowie CD.

It turns out that some of the songs in 'hours was originally used, in alternate versions, for the viwas originally used, in alternate versions, for the video game Omikron - The Nomad Soul, which also featured two characters based on Bowie, as well as one on his wife Iman, one on 'hours...' collaborator Reeves Gabrels, and one on bassist Gail Ann Dorsey.

Bowie and band did two songs from 'hours, Seven and a song that blew me away Thursday's Child.

I found the original video made for Thursday's Child http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8S227FFNwl8. Watch how Bowie and the woman morph to a younger version of themselves in the video, this is just so creative to me.

Well, I was able to find 'hours and I brought the VH1 Storytellers CD/DVDhttp://www.amazon.com/VH1-Storytellers-David-Bowie/dp/B002984APW/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1250026795&sr=8-9.

I love great music.

I remember seeing that program when it originally aired -- great show. I seem to remember some neat arrangements of some of Bowie's classic songs.

I was fortunate enough to see Bowie live a few years ago. To this day it's one of my all time favorite shows!

I have to keep an eye peeled for that. Not only do I dig Bowie the most, it's nice to see Storytellers again showcase someone who might actually have some stories to tell.

I mean... ZZ Top??!? What backstory can "Fool For YOur Stockings" possibly have? :D

I've seen him many times live, the 'Thin White Duke', 'Serious Moonlight', 'Tin Machine' and the great 'A Reality Tour' which is on DVD http://www.amazon.com/David-Bowie-Reality-Tour/dp/B00064AEOC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1250110356&sr=1-1.

But even as good as Earl Slick http://www.myspace.com/earlslick is playing with Bowie, Reeves Gabrels http://www.myspace.com/reevesgabrels is just as good.
