It was 40 years ago this coming weekend that maybe *the* greatest rock event of all time took place on a farm in New York, USA.

For those too young to remember, or anyone who wants to re-live the nostalgia of what it was like, this site is pretty cool :

Hey Mike, you remember what they said...if you remember Woodstock, you weren't really there!

Yep, I graduated high school that year!

I do recall Stills saying (in the movie) - this is only our second gig together! Not sure if I believe that after hearing those great harmonies.

Here's a site that I have referenced on occasion. Note that the band sequences have some differences.

There's another cool Woodstock site 'The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame' http://www.rockhall.com/exhibitupcoming/woodstock-anniversary, I'm heading up there this weekend.

I read Michael Lang's 'The road to Woodstock' http://tinyurl.com/m3c2tp and two pictorial books, 'Woodstock Vision: The Spirit of a Generation' by Elliot Landy http://tinyurl.com/lymovq and Woodstock: Three Days That Rocked the World by Mike Evans http://tinyurl.com/n9y22o.

Plus I got the Woodstock movie on Blu-ray!

I know you younger player are snickering, but Woodstock was a huge culture event, that still has impact on today's music, and lifestyle. I wasn't yet playing guitar when the movie was released, and was thrilled by all the music acts, especially Jimi Hendrix.

Now that I'm able to 'play' along with all the concert performances, makes it a even better experience for me.

I'm not snickering. I've always wished I was there...or even part of that great era!

Hi Mike,

I remember summer '69 like it was yesterday.
My Pop , not a reneck, nor a bohemian by any means
seemed to have a lot of interest in this happening.
I was suprised a bit after it was over he told me he
would have like to have gone to see the concert.
I'll never know how serious he was. Looking back on it now
it would have been a good time with the old man, we had many.

Cheers.

Thanks for sharing that, Mr Bill. I can remember a lot of radio talk about it and eventually seeing the movie at a jam=packed theater with a group of about 12 or so, and there was that funny smell  , and people cheering, just as if I was at a concert.

The blu-ray DVD has great sound...as a side note, I used to work at shop in Greenwich Village owned by a cousin, and one night this very pretty girl walked in and was looking around at the stuff (posters and stuff). We started talking and it was just about closing time and I asked her something; she answered.."only if you follow me home"; so I did. She was an NYU student living in the dorms, and turned out to be Max Yasgur's niece! We dated for about 6 months; eventually, she ended up marrying an engineering student.

Wow, amazing small world!

I bet she's been to some of Levon Helm's Midnight Rambles too?

Next time I'm in NY, I am definitely going there. As for Yasgur's niece, we lost touch a long time ago.

Those are some of the songs that were played.

Unfortunately, it's far from complete!

I've never heard some of those bands!
