i dont know if that happens to you & i really want to find out. whenever i grab my guitar to practise, after a while i cant keep my eyes open! that happens when i "study" guitar. i dont think that its so boring that i want to sleep but literally i simply cant practise!
sometimes it gets really annoying. :x

has this happened to you sometimes now or at the first years of learning?

HOLYCRAP, this has been my one issue with practicing I've had forever!!
I just CAN'T SEEM to keep my flippin' eyes open!!!! :P

I've just simply come to the conclusion that I need to practice while it's still daytime.

I always seem to pass out for an hour or two after practicing for a while, and then wake myself up and finish practicing.
Sometimes I pass out multiple times in one night and my head officially hits the pillow at around four or five in the morning.
But that's only sometimes. :P

Psh, follow-through is one thing I lack.
Well.
Except for my guitar playing.
So adhering to a schedule just might work for my practicing. :P

Thanks for the input. 8)

I cannot say that its ever happened to me. I usually practice either 1-2 hours after I eat breakfast or an hour after I get home from work. Even when I was younger I always practiced before feeling sleepy or too close before going to bed.

I hope you figure out something so you can get in some good practice time.

Me I sit down and start playing and it keeps me awake.

Depends on what I am playing. If it is bluesy or Hendrixy, I feel the lids start to drop but the fingers still move. It's almost like a trance more than sleep. :?

Drink some coffee. I have fallen a sleep with guitar in hand but that was when I used to pull all nighters and had the guitar in my hands for ten hours and a pot of coffee in me and the sun would be coming up. To old for that now though I am still a night owl.

I usually practice when i feel sleepy but want to stay awake so i play hard and loud to do so. Then i have been known to play soft fingerstyle on my acoustic to mellow out so that i could go to sleep. It's really according on my mood and how badly i feel the need to practice a certain set of songs i'm working on.

For me I usaly take a 5 minute break, I just walk around the house, grab a snack, But That seems to only happen later on like at night, so I always try to practise in the morning. :D
