I change their names often, depending on how they behave :D

My guitars are named after unobtainable women from my past. Each guitar "earns" it's name when it reveals it's "personality" that most closely matches it's name sake.

Stratocaster: Annie

Les Paul: Suzan

Explorer: Tasha

no, they already have names. someone (leo fender?) probably thought long and hard about naming them.

Some of my guitars have names, either human or descriptive. For example, my first strat I call Rose. Then there's my Custom Classic which has been hot-rodded, and I call that one The Beast. I built a green sparkle parts-o-caster and I call that one the Green Bling. My '66 TM is called Blue, and my Charlie's guitar is Dallas. I have other guitars too which aren't named (the Mexi, the Teal, the tele, etc).

Yes... named my Strat "Arm" and my Precission "Leg" 'cause that's what they cost me. Ba-dum-bum! Seriously though, don't name my axes, but I do name my amps (Brutus, etc.).

PlayforLife... I feel your pain. But there is still plenty of time for you. You're young, but you're also inspired and motivated. Better gear will come with time. Be patient and persistent. Enjoy your P-O-S amp in the meantime ;-). We've all been there.

I name all my guitars after various dogs that have been in the family. I don't want to offend people buy not naming a guitar after them or naming one that they don't particularly like the look of so, I name them after pets. (dogs) My black Start is called "JET" after my black mutt I got for my 6th birthday. Jet passed away 12 years later. My sunburst is called "KEISHA" after my sister's beloved golden lab who died 5 years ago. I know it sounds silly but, there it is.

My modified Squier Tele with the green granite special effect paint job goes by the name of "Punky". The others I just refer to by their real names.
