Neo-Psych & Shoegaze ?

I'm not even sure what the genre is about. :?:

Just got home from a home recording clinic and relaxing with some Robben Ford music.

Actually, it's two separate, but similar (at least to me) genres:

Neo-Psychedelic draws its inspiration from '60s psychedelia. Echo and the Bunnymen, Mercury Rev, The Church, The Black Angels, The Dandy Warhols, Darker My Love, The Black Hollies, even some of the work by Lenny Kravitz and Prince.

Shoegaze was popular in the late '80s/early '90s. Lots of fuzzed guitars and trippy effects, droning riffs and, often male & female vocals drowned out by there own instruments. Representative bands - My Bloody Valentine, The Verve, Ride, Chapterhouse among many others.

I missed a lot of good music during the '80s and '90s because I ignored these bands with "odd" names. I'm just catchin' up.

Back on topic - I'm listening to "Wild Opal Eyes" by The Asteroid #4.

Cool, it's great to record rehearsal and listen back. I always find
several ways to improve that way.

Currently listening to Don Felder (ex-Eagle's guitarist) - Take It To The Limit
