I listened to the blues today wonderfully provided by Jimmy Mayes at his annual bar-b-cue. There were two drummers, Jimmy Mayes and Frank Iffland. I had the most fun opportunity to play Hey Joe and The Wind Cry's Mary with Jimmy and Tommy Ashe guitar/singer. The rest of the afternoon was smoking blues with Frank and Jimmy, a great bass guitar player Kenji ( blues aficionados will remember him playing with many of the Chicago bluesmen ), Tommy and the one and only Ricky Van Drugan, a pun, Rick Drugan from Underbelly and Bunker Hill. A classical gas in true southern style. Bar-b-cue was going until past dark when we packed the gear and home and just listening.
