I'm listening to Los Lonely Boys this afternoon. Henry is using one of his 40 wah pedals. :D
I do the same with record. tape, or CD to PC to USB, Mike. Amazingly, tape is more durable than some think as Masters in recording studios have shown, although not always the case, and a lot of cool stuff is on prerecorded tape that is not found elsewhere.

I still like analog sound and did a open minded A/B comparison between a Gold audiophile Michael Jackson disc versus a standard Thriller album with a very good cartridge. Both good, but both different. Some of my Japanese and European records are excellent quality.

Multitrack discrete surround tape still kicks digital synthesized because that is the raw form.

I. like others, enjoy cable, Bluetooth, and WiFi streaming sites; but, sometimes, a preferred custom home made playlist includes originals, other versions, or rarities that one wants. A lot of sites are genre specific or looped repeating their playlist. After all, more than a century of undubbed or lost music is out of the digital arena. Heck! It might even be on a wire recorder.
Digital hasn’t yet come to be mature with a standard, and changes are just around the corner. I have oodles of digital and recording formats including binaural but, as much as I appreciate digital, I find some listening fatigue overtime. Comparing digital amps with tube amps, one might get the same vibes. I’m guessing that we’ve reached the day where many have only known digital. Perhaps, that’s why the return, in a small way, to turntables and cassettes. Old is now newly discovered,

But, USB is great for convenience sometimes, especially as a tool, for storage and distribution; but, without a display, and with a long recorded length, searches can be more difficult without an audible cue, for example. Still, flash drives are a good alternative and are appreciated in my toolbox; but, longevity both audibly and physically have their reported quirks which some have yet to discover. My bet is that the flash drive format has the least chance of long term survival compared to others, and OS systems with accompanying software along with hardware and other players can take a negative approach; however, it’ll probably outlast me. I’m waiting for the WiFi surround chip in the head. Hopefully, it’ll add memory and upgrade my brain which shouldn’t be a difficult task. :P

There’s something to be said about old formats combined with new technology.

Personally I think it's kinda funny that there are plugins to make digital audio sound like it was recorded of vinyl and tape.

The sad part of it all is that a lot of people just want music that sounds good
on a mobile device/smartphone. They have a $800 phone and listen with a
$29. headset. To each their own...

Listening now to The Jeff Beck Group - produced by Steve Cropper.
