Listening to A Sound & Vision Test CD.

Matching levels and tweaking what not with 4 recorders, a reel to reel, an inherited 3 head cassette deck (and I’m reading about the auto bias and DBX setup), a double cassette deck that also records double, and a little used audio only CD recorder that will become a 5 disc changer once the discs I have are completed. They are no longer available for this country’s coding. Phht!

Today’s fun event started with my other 5 disc DSP carousel changer skipping on some discs so the test disc will tell me if there is an error correction issue or if the discs are at fault or both. It passed the minimal standards of the time, but just short of the better performance of the newer recorder and, perhaps, better discs. Looks like some of my CDs are a problem. If I have to, I’ll uncable and dismantle the culprit to see if the laser can be cleaned. Maybe.

I might be able to salvage the CDs with a little work and different playback. If not . . . the next time I’m asked what I’m listening to I’ll be able to say, “The Coasters”.

Question for the day: Who said CDs are better than records because they don't have scratches and skips? I’ll bet his initials are USB. Haha! :P
FSB

I made my first record when I was 2. Still have it. That was the last hit I ever made.

Haha! They have devices that will convert music from a cassette tape to an mp3 and
store on a USB thumb drive. For those without recording software, they can save precious
songs and /or moments for as little as $30 or so on Amazon.

I'm listening to Los Lonely Boys this afternoon. Henry is using one of his 40 wah pedals. :D
