The new (old really!) Rolling Stones album "On Air" -featuring a bunch of unreleased and rare live radio performances. Brian Jones' influence can be strongly heard -especially on the blues numbers like the cover of Muddy Waters "I Can't Be Satisfied" -his slide playing was really under-rated and perfect.

Tears In Heaven:
I thought the set and presentation was very well done by some great talent last night, Mike.

Politics aside, I didn’t care for much of the Grammy live music last night. Lady Gaga, Pink, Little Big Town. Elton and Mylie didn’t disappoint. Unfortunately, the great (IMHO) Latino song Despacito never had a chance of winning after being attached to Justin Bieber (like him or hate him) (friend of the Grammy clique) (sic)

I dug Childish Gambino’s performance of “Terrified”, and I felt it was musically mesmerizing in a Marvin Gaye sorta way. The arrangement was out of the box in a good way. I later found out the lyrics were outa the box in not such a good way when I considered downloading it. :? I’m sure lyrics with the song did well, but I think it was an opportunity missed since it has a lot going for it. Just my two cents.

Congrats to Canuck girl Alessia Cara for the consideration of promoting other’s talent over pundits’ popularity choice after her winning a best new artist Grammy. Finally the big poobas of the music world got the message that will be put on the back burner.

Factoid: Only two ‘new artist’ Grammy winners have ever won a ‘lifetime achievement’ Grammy. Bobby Darin and the Beatles.

The Grammies have changed. Or have they? Much of the music, artists, their like, and so on that used to grace the stage are now credited away from the telecast. That gives time and coverage to what we see today. Sometimes I feel that the audience should remain in their seats as the awards change. The audience, red carpet divas, winners, and party goers seldom do change. At one time it was the other way around.
