A Ken Loomer Big Band doing a Buddy Rich version of Love For Sale.

Not guitar stuff, but great musicians all around. IMHO.

FSB

Side note: Ken once said that his bass player is usually a good one, so usually no complaints are necessary. If not, he’ll put a lesser bassist at his side so he can yell at him when it isn’t right. Must’ve learned that from Buddy.

You’re welcome, Marky. I saw Buddy Rich close up twice, and I thought this guy, whom I had never seen before and stumbled upon, absolutely killed it with his own style. I debated on putting the video here, but I thought the performance was so good it might be worthy of sharing it for y’all to enjoy.

Besides, Ken Loomer is a cool guy as well. He basically thinks of his band as a project to introduce the younger crowd to big band and guys like Rich with the purpose of keeping the music alive. Any band that does that gets my vote.
FSB

After all, a lot of rock has a connection with skilled musicians like this, and I’d hate to see those resources dry up.

Awesome!
Glad you liked it, Mike. :D
With any instrument, I always believed that if you could play fast . . . that was a good thing, and if you could play well, that was even better, but if you could play fast and well, that’s awesome as you pointed out, Mike. Goes for guitars too. Me? I’m slow in both. I’m working on it. Well, at least I don’t have to worry about being awesome. FSB
