Fieldy Bassically:

It's a lot different from his work with Korn.

Fieldy Bassically was funky and outa the box. I liked it. :D
Thanks, Rev.

You're welcome! I have to admit though that Korn is one of my guilty pleasures. But for me it was so cool to hear him outside of that context. I might actually buy that one.

Well, today it was reprogramming the tuner of a receiver, and listening to all sorts of good tunes. I would have had no problem filling the forty slots available.in Vancouver where it came from. But, here in the prairies getting 20 stations were a stretch, and a lot of them were bilingual (although, they had some really good music in jazz, classical, and ethnic). Two universities and a technical college gave a variety of interesting alternative programming. Hip hop and rap (not my preference) were definitely the flavour of the day and night trumping classic rock and oldies. There was one out of town country station. The national radio of CBC gave me two different AM/FM stations , and AM was pretty much non-existent.

To make it more limited, even after the cable guy came, the signals were next to useless as stations appear to have wimped out on adequate, much less powerful, transmitters today. I once worked in this area for a TV/radio station which gained a reputation.by covering some areas of Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Minnesota, North Dakota. and far up north. It’s broadcast skipped far and wide.

Sure, I know radio technology has moved on, but the surround sound receiver would look naked without the Am/FM display. IMHO :P
So to fix the dropout reception an old set of rabbit ears came to the rescue, and that setup worked waaaay better in the man cave. Just like it did in the dinosaur days.:D

Thanks, Mike. Looks to be a good site. I’ll check it out.

Like others, I enjoy streaming services including a dedicated app with Bluetooth/ WiFi speakers, and Internet hooked up to the receiver from a PC.

I really enjoy radio, having built my first (crystal) and the second (kit) radio, and the fact that I got one the first transistor radios from Sony when my Dad came back from Japan. I had a box of unavailable (on this side of the pond) batteries that didn’t last long, but, long enough to show my friends.:D The same thing hit this shoreline soon after. My next pocket transistor (Toshiba) included Short Wave. I didn’t have to go far though as the sixties border stations like Windsor/Detroit and in my neighbourhood Vancouver/Seattle were crazy good. For those who missed out . . . it was like a battle of the bands!

The first broadcast I heard upon crossing the Atlantic in ‘65 was this famous pirate ship station. Now online, you’ll even be able to find an American specific service. Here is Radio Caroline, and some interesting related articles for radio buffs:

Factoid: The 60s brought several North American DJs to England to share a similar vibe of our Oldies stations.

 ROTFL.
That put a smile on my face, Marky.

I remember my father doing that. Boy! Would that ever look good and retro. Steel wool works too. :P
It was just by luck I had those rabbit ears handy as they were antiques left over from my father-in-law’s days when he owned this house. I had the foresight to think they might be of some use someday, and they were. They’re classic and look to have a Bakelite base. The antennas have a patina, but I hid them out of the way. I could have run a wire two doors down the street to a neighbour’s Ham radio antenna. It’s about 100 feet high. :D
All I need now is a ceramic black Jaguar or a comedy tragedy mask tv light. I read about those things. 8)

FSB, I love the retro look mixed in with your modern equipment. I think the black ceramic Jaguar is a must. Now that would be stunning. 8)
