House of Sharks is slightly better, though not much. The first one is just too "much" for a band name. I don't care what it "means" or how special the name is, if nobody can remember your band's name, find it easily on a search or remember it, then it just goes against you.

And now that I think about it more, a Hawaiian name for a reggae band is a bit of a non sequitur. Go with House of Sharks. 8)

I would have to say house of sharks, Halemano is a cool name but If you just said it nobody would remember how to spell it.

You prove a bigger point than you realize. I'm not trying to be the spelling police, but you spelled it wrong yourself. Don't feel bad though, 99% of the people do. And what happens is, it get's spelled like that on fliers and on-line fliers ALL THE TIME. So if someone decides they like our music, they look at one of the fliers to look up the band and nothing comes up under that spelling. Do a Google search for "Halemano" and see what comes up. There won't be a band anywhere in the search. Then a would-be new fan just decides to forget about it. There won't even be a Did you mean: Haleamano at the top of the search.

Russianracehorse, you might be right to a certain degree. Most people don't know that there is such a thing as Hawaiian Reggae. Most of the times it's called Jawaiian, which this band started out as. But as new members got involved (including myself) and the band started pushing more toward a Roots Reggae style, it's getting less and less Jawaiian sounding.

There's also another style of Reggae called California Reggae which is a style I bring to the band. I play Roots Rhythms and bring Heavy Metal guitar leads to the mix. And when I sing, there's no way you could mistake me for a Jamaican. So I'm commonly known as a California style Reggae artist. If I were the main singer in this band, HOUSE OF SHARKS would definitely be a better choice. But I'm not. The 2- main singers (and founders of the band) are Hawaiian born and raised.

Again, thanks for everyone's input. It really is helping us to understand how the 2 names are perceived.

Agreed--take out the "the"

It flows better.

+1 8) or maybe 'sharks teeth' or 'hammerhead' or 'rumble sharkskin' or 'shark attack'.
