This is not a "which is better" poll. Its a "which is your favorite" poll.

For a wooden leg, mahogany is the only choice. 8) Mike

Maple or Mahagony necks, not bodies.

I'd be inclined to go for mahogany, for its novelty value. I'm pretty sure that not even vinnypop has a mahogany-necked Strat...

I like them both. I have Les pauls made with both. My LP Custom was made with a set Maple neck and it does have a different sound then the other with the Mahogony.

I like maple necks better than mahogany necks.

But I like mahogany bodies better than maple bodies.

Oh, no, I am torn!

Oops, showing my ignorance, there... I've never owned or even played a Gibson, so I didn't think of them... heh. My flamenco guitar has a Honduran cedar neck, though, and it's very nice... can't really compare it to an electric guitar neck.

Maple, here. That's what I saw hanging on the wall of the Custom Shop
room, Xmas eve '05. It was attached to the American Delux Strat
I now cherish.
The mahogany is a little warmer, but I like the way my guitar 'pops'.

I'll stand on that!

And on a more serious note (or is that stand ... or leg ... or), I very slightly prefer maple when there's a choice. However in looking around the room, most of my guitars and basses aren't ... I'd never turn down a guitar that's a good deal over the neck. I've never detected that much difference.

I do like a maple neck, but the best I have ever had is All Ebony.
Feels superb and sounds wonderful....it's just not a Fender neck

Mahogany bodies on acoustics sound better but as a neck maple is stronger. Both look very nice.
