Does ANYBODY have any leads for Jimmy Page's setup, live or studio?

I seem to recall reading that the majority of the first three Zeppelin albums were played on an ancient Telecaster through a 3-watt Fender Champ.

On the first two albums he used a Tele and Supro Thunderbolt http://www.vintageguitar.com/features/brands/details.asp?AID=2587.

My Fender Cyber-Twin has two presets that really comes close to capturing that tone.

Here's a link to info on Page's equipment...

http://www.uberproaudio.com/content/view/200/38/

UberProAudio is a good site with similar listings on hundreds of famous players.

Another good site for such things is:

http://www.guitargeek.com/

No listing there for J.P. but there are detailed listings on a bunch of other guys!

electric guitar wise he used a tele for the first zep album and part of the first tour (and later on for the solo on stairway..)..then switched to a les paul ....he also used a fender XII,a strat, a doulbleneck gibson sg (for stairway live) and a Danelectro ....and you can bet he also used some other axes as well in the studio

That's my understanding too. Supro Thunderbolts are sweet sounding amps for sure. Really collectible now.

8)

What JIMMY used when NOT playinga TELE or a DANELECTRO or someother JUN he is everyday set up was his LES PAUL with 2 SEYMOUR DUNCAN HUMBUCKER 59' er's with 4 conductors.

Then ya have to remove all pots and get 4 with PUSH PULL or get the concentric ones put push pull is a LOT easier to do while playing.

Then you can get his wiring off any SEYMOUR DUNCAN PAGE.
You will then have all the same TONAL VERSATILITY you could ever want.

That should do it.....the part we do NOT know is what was done to his amps.

So I would think that would also be a huge part in his sound.

But at least your ax willhave the same set up wiring and pup wise.

ALSO CHANGE the capacitors to BUMBLE BEE"S (very important)

Good Luck
