im kind of protective of my basses. i mean i let people play them but i have to either be in the same room or within earshot. i would never let anyone use it like at a gig or something.

When my BIL comes over he'll pick up a guitar to jam with my son and I, he's got monster chops and it's always a good time for me to pick up tips from him.

His only problem is that he has very acidic sweat and will rust out a set of new strings quicker than any one I know.

I have had bad experiences with loaning gear.
I do not do it any more, and people don't even ask now.

i'm pretty protective, it's like a couple hundred dollars of your hard earned money that people are messing with.

I let people play my "new" stuff whenever they want.....

but there are several instruments that are totally off limits, unless you are a big time player....

same thing with my amps..

anybody can use my Ampeg Jet... but you have to be very special to use my old Fender...

There is just one rule in my house.

Read any books or magazines you want, just don't crease the spines or pages. Watch any DVD or TV channel you want, or play any PS3 game, or listen to any CD. Use my computer. Help yourself to food and drink. My house is your house. But if you touch any of my guitars or anything else with "Fender" written on it I'll be opening up a world of pain.

Rule applies to all, including partner's 89 year old grandma.

same here.....

to my friends:

raid the fridge, sodas are in the garage, play the 360 all you want, tun on the tv and watch a movie or dvd, phones over here to use, bathrooms over there..... guitars are over here, you lay a finger on any of them besides the squier i will destroy you... i let them mess around on my squier b/c it needs a string change anyways, but if they want to touch my fender or epi elitist, they have another thing coming, unless they're a guitarist and i trust them

i don't know why i'm so paranoid, but they're almost like children in a way, they're yours and you don't want other people messing with them

Absolutely not. No way do I lend out my gear. You wouldn't lend out your girlfriend/wife (would you?)... same goes for my guitars/gear. Hey, we worked too hard to purchase these babies... all it takes is one dope to ruin it in one second.

I don't ever loan, but if people want to play my gear I usually let them. I guess I don't have any real expensive guitars though...if I owned a guitar worth more than $1000, then I might be a little more restrictive.

No one has ever asked but if they did. I have old guitars that I would lend out. I will never lend out my Fenders.

I don't have any friends that really play gutiar in real life. They all like. . . Plainly saying, don't have one. I'm going to try in the near future to teach my girlfriend how to play but she would be the only person who can play my guitar becuase I love it and I'm really new to the guitar'ing thing.

I mean, I guess if I did have a friend or two who did play gutiar, I'd let them use my older gutiars. I know for sure, I wouldn't let them use this guitar I play now, my Strat.
